Crossroads

The audience warmly welcomed Crossroads last night at "L'Evêché". Nearly 700 people came to cheer them in the cabaret party. Their musical style is not easy to define. They offer a musical journey that takes us from Ireland to Eastern Europe, via Scotland and Brittany.Interbreeding is the key-word, as their name suggests, as well as the addition of every musician's personal experience and trips.

According to Mara Kiek, the Australia singer of the band, that sounds logical. "When you have neighbours", she says, "it's logical that you should want to know a bit of their culture, whether through food or music." Padrig Sicard, a Breton musician, met Mara in a Dublin Festival and brought his knowledge of Celtic music to the group.

Then, they started touring, and the family grew larger. This is not their first gig in Brittany; they have already played in Concarneau and Lorient. Mara explains that her Irish origins must have originated her interest in Celtic music. Celtic culture is widespread in her country : dance groups and pipe bands are numerous downunder. Crossroads offered the spectators a great show, setting some of them dancing in front of the stage.
